Jay Says It's Truffle Season, I Say: Time To Wear Suit And Ties for ALL Reasons. Grammy NODS Are Out And Jay Is Obv A Lead Contender...
Hey guys.
But Heeeeey, doe. #winning.
So,
besides "starting" some of your New Year's resolutions that you claim
you will keep throughout 2014 (LOL), what better way to begin 2014 than with
the 56th annual Grammy Awards, taking place in LA on Janurary 26th. Ahh, yes the
Grammys - it's like the Oscars for music and the start of my favorite time of
year...well, after Christmas of course, Award Season. Eeeek! #Redcarpetcity.
The
famous award nominations were announced on Dec 6th, I am just now reading over
all the awards nods and taking it all in. Of course, my main man Jay leads the
musically talented pack with the most nominations in the categories of Best
Rap Song (obv) , Best Rap Album (of course), and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
(Suit and Tie? #sure). HOVA is killing it per ususal, so throw that diamond or
(la delta) up in da sky for as long as you like because you sure are Grammy
King.
Along
with Jay Z are his fellow companions and the celebs who fall second to him with
the most Grammy nods which are: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar,
Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake, all boasting seven nominations. HOLLA.
What a crew. Def, tryna hang. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are nominated for
some big categories such as Album of the year, which is HELLO da biggest, and
also for "Same Love" in the song of the year category. Kendrick is
nominated for best new artist, which as a fairly new artist is the creme of the
crop, while Pharrell is killing it on two fronts being nominated twice for best
duo performance. Pharell is nominated with Daft Punk, of course, for "Get
Lucky" and again with Robin Thicke and T.I. for "Blurred Lines."
Both songs are SO amazing and defined the year for me that I'm not sure what to
do exactly.
The
best duo category actually gives me anxiety now that we are discussing. All the
songs that are nominated are SO good and literally were 2013...it's gonna be rough to choose just one winner. I mean
just LOOK at this:
BEST
POP DUO/GROUP PERFORMANCE
"Get Lucky" - Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams
"Just Give Me A Reason" - Pink Featuring Nate Ruess
"Stay" - Rihanna Featuring Mikky Ekko
"Blurred Lines" - Robin Thicke Featuring T.I. & Pharrell
"Suit & Tie" - Justin Timberlake & Jay Z
I
CAN'T. WHY? Because I legit LOVE all those songs. "Get Lucky," is
like self explanitory, I was loving Daft Punk's new sound, "Just Give
Me A Reason" was SUPER emo and miz, yet I found myself always belting
it in the car when I was by myself...same with "Stay." Ri in the bathtub
and the Mike Ekko is like kinda hott? Emo and miz sometimes make for the best
songs, not sorry about that. Then "Blurred Lines" - OBVI. I mean if
you didn't want to get up and dance every time you heard this song...well then
you're miz. It was by far my favorite club song of the year, and the music
video - amaze. (Not talking about the naughty version, but hey, the naughty
version just has what I like to call European swag. #Nakedmodels) Then that
leaves "Suit and Tie," which again defines sophiscation and how ALL
men should be in just a few song lyrics. I LOVE this song and I say this all
the time and I will say it again: IF every guy felt the same way about their
suit and tie as Justin does...then we'd be dealing with gentlemen all around. I
am right? Yup. Knowing the Grammy's though, I think the winner is between
"Blurred Lines" and "Suit and Tie."
Lastly,
one of the biggest news from the nominations were of course the Grammy snubs,
and this year, people are mad about new comber with a hell of a voice, Lorde.
We all diee for the song "Royals," whether you admit it or not, but
the girl's whole album is clutch. "Pure Heroine"? Suuure. Lorde was
surprisingly subbed from the best new artist category, which was confusing. So,
then naturally you wanna feel bad for her and scream out how unfair that is it,
buut hold that thought because she IS nominated for song of the year, record of
the year, and best solo pop performance. So, the Grammy's didn't leave her out,
but I do 100% agree that she should have been under the best new artist
category...and arguably won.
People
are also surprised that Miley got snubbed for Grammy nods this year, but I mean
I'm not. Don't get me wrong, I love Miley and I think she's fierce as fuck, but
it's the Grammy's are NOT the AMA's or MTV Music Awards. Different standards,
people. That's why they finally made a red carpet dress code last year - duh.
But it was about time. We couldn't have any more see-through JLO dresses or
Lil' Kim Grammy nip slip's even though...Miley rocked that halloween costume.
You go girl.
