Oscars BEST Dressed!

BEST Dressed and the BEST Moments from the 2016 Oscars!! YAY!

When Mark Rylance is like cutest tho...LOOK AT HIS HAT!! :)

Last night the 88th annual Academy Awards ceremony took place in Hollywood at the famous Dolby Theatre. Hollywood's (invited) A-list came out to play on the world's largest red carpet to celebrate the best of the year. Obviously the big dark cloud over the ceremony was the issue of diversity, which in my personal opinion, Chris Rock handled very well. He for sure went there in his monologue, but I in no way thought it was over the top. Everything he did last night was just right. Some people think he should I have dropped the topic after the monologue, and I disagree. I thought because that was already the evening's theme, that's what people were expecting to see, so you might as well roll with it. Besides there is literally going to be NO other time for anyone of color to make that much of a statement about diversity in Hollywood again, so like I think the used the platform well.

#Glory

ANYWAY. Kudos to Chris Rock, and obviously, now for the evening's highlights - the winnaas.

HUGE Congrats the cast and crew of SPOTLIGHT. We all know how I feel about that...super biased, but SO well deserved. If you haven't seen it yet...well, I don't know what you're wait for - stop reading this and go now! LOL. Seriously though, I have yet to have a movie really make me think and feel like this one did in A WHILE. So, go. Go now.

The CUTEST of cast pics...

Other congrats are in order for of course, Brie Larson! While I will never forget the amazing days of "She Said" and Larson's short-lived singing career, the way this bitch has been able to transition from THAT to THIS...well, that should give us all hope. Like, maybe you TOO can win an Oscar...and act along side the dashing Jacob Tremblay. LOL. SIDE NOTE: Jacob was wearing Armani...he wins best dressed for sure.

Oscar night...it's marathon. Not a race.

Another BIG congrats to The Revenant...I mean, talk about diversity, Alejandro González Iñárritu and Emmanuel Lubezki are just SLAYING the Oscars. Like, back to back Oscars for these guys? THREE for Lubezki, like WHO DOES THAT?!! It's SO epic. Congrats to them. What they're doing is so serious.

When you're whole squad wins da gold...

And last, but seriously, not least...

CONGRATS TO (my boyfriend in my head) LEO DICAPRIO!!!!! Like, we all KNEW that the Academy could NOT let this one go. If they did...OMG they couldn't even afford the PR if Leo lost. Like, people would have set fire to the Academy, and one of those people would have most likely been Leo.

Like, how Kate felt is how we ALL felt. Love them.

But, all jokes aside, this Oscar for Leo is like decades over due. Let's be real name a BAD Leo movie...like we're talking really bad. We tried to do this last night and it's hard. Like, this Oscar is for "Gilbert Grape," for "Romeo and Juliet," for "Titanic," for "Catch Me If You Can," for "The Aviator," for "The Departed," for "Blood Diamond," for" Revolutionary Road," for "Django," for "Wolf of Wall Street," for "The Revenant." I mean, there's others, but you catch my drift.

Congrats Leo, The Weekend says "you've earned it."

And now for the moment you've ALL be waiting for...Le Best Dressed!

THE BEST of the BEST

photos via

Cate Blanchette in Armani.
I don't care if you don't like the flowers, I don't care if you think this is too much, I don't care if you don't like sea foam green, the winner tonight for me was Cate, Cate, Cate. Cate is red carpet QUEEN. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING looks unreal on her and this sea foam color...she just glows in it. And not only does this dress photograph so well, on camera, like when she was on stage, holy crap she just sparkled. I was shocked to she Cate in Armani because she normally always wears Givenchy on the carpet, but this is just fashion at it's finest. No one else could wear this like she did therefore she wins best dressed for the night. She may not have won the gold, but she won the red...carpet.

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton.
From Best Supporting Actress to best dressed. Alicia just NAILED this look. She looks UNREAL. She was one of the first to arrive on the carpet and was immediately the first on everyone's best dressed list. This pale, yellow against her (always) tanned skin is just perfection. The hair is perfect, the earrings are perfect, and the asymmetrical hemline is just amaze. She may look like Belle from Beauty and Beast, but it's more like if Belle won an Oscar. Everything about this look is perfection. Congrats Alicia, you earned it...(sorry to The Weekend). #Belleoftheball.

Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein.
There's a lot of memes about the Emerald City and a lot puns about Ronan being Irish and wearing green, but the main thing they're saying about the Irish beauty is that she looks sensational. Like literally, sensational. This dress is SO basic, yet so not basic all at the same time. And I mean basic as in simple, not as in like "basic bitch." Ronan's tussled hair with dripping, emerald earrings and the sequin plunge dress is one of my favorite red carpet looks of the night. I mean this dress is like a huge HELLO IT'S ME from way back when after her break out role in "Atonement."She's all grown up. And she sure showed us last night.

Margot Robbie in Tom Ford.
Ummmm. Well, first of all Robbie is actually perfect. Like, there is literally nothing wrong with her (besides the fact that she spelled "squad" wrong on her cast-mate's arm while tattooing him but that's fine. We're over it. )Anyway, Robbie looks like the hotter version of the Oscar statuette in this sleek, gold Tom Ford gown. I love the plunge neck, I love the snake skin, and I LOVE the long, fringe bag. Hands down on of my favorite red carpet accessories of the season. #WhiskeyTangoMargot

Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa.
After fashion week, fashion experts debated which stars were going to wear Marchesa on the Oscar red carpet, straight off the runway. Well, leave it Mrs. John Legend to take a NON maternity runway gown and turn it into a show-stopping Oscar dress. The sheer and embellished gown looked stunning on the soon to-be-mommy. This girl's pregnancy style is seriously like no others. Like, when you can wear a Marchesa runway gown as a maternity dress, you know you're just better than life itself. Amen.

THE BEST

Brie Larson in Gucci.
Congrats to Brie!! We all LOVE Brie. Whether or not you were a huge fan of her millennial singing career or not, (like I was), you just love Brie. She's like, the coolest - AND, she looked beautiful last night. I love this royal blue gown and delicate chiffon with the incredibly intricate beading of the belt. The only thing I don't love about this look is the styling. I mean, she looks great, but she could have looked better. That sounds aggressive, but what I really mean is her hair. Not only did she kinda look like a less tan version of Alicia Vikander with the the hair (good thing they both won), but because the dress isn't super dramatic, her hair should have been more dramatic. Like, it's TOO simple. I think if she had worn her hair up  in a messy, side-swept bun with BIGGER statement earrings, it would have looked been better. Bigger is better and it's great that she kinda downplayed her BIG Oscar night...but like, don't down play the biggest night of your career you know what I'm saying? Love ya Brie, but see Alicia Vikander.

SIDE NOTE: Brie's gold Calvin Klein dress at the Globes was her BEST dress of award season. Whoops. Like, maybe she should have switched these dresses up?

Rooney Mara in Givenchy.
Don't care what anyone says - I know there are going to be people who hate this dress and think it's ugly, but then I'm sorry, you just don't understand couture fashion. This dress is a piece of art. We're talking Lupita's pearl dress circa 2015...yeah, the one that was worth $150K...yeah. the one got stollen. ANYWAY, I love this dress. The detailing on this is SO ornate and fabulous. The delicate vintage lace is so awesome. I love the diamond key-hole,  I love the open back, and I love the flutter slit. It's just a fine piece of Givenchy work. Bravo Rooney. OH, and I also like the dark lip and eyes, again I don't care what you think. She rocks this look.

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive.
Naomi is a red carpet vet, she's been nominated, she's presented, and her hubby won for "Spotlight" last night! YAY! Best movie ever. So, Naomi had some celebrating to do and she looked great. She always wears Armani Prive on the carpet, so that was no surprise. The only thing I had to say about this dress was that "Blindspot" star, Jamie Alexander, wore the long sleeved version of this dress to the Emmys this year, so I was like HELLO Naomi's stylist!! Did you NOT check that? But, I mean to be fair, I guess the ooonly people who remember stuff like that are crazy red carpet fashion people like me. So, I guess it's fine. But, Naomi does look great. The diamond reef is also a lovely touch. I don't think it's too much at ALL for those who are thinking that. Yeah, no.

Julianne Moore in Chanel.
Ladies and gentleman, the woman of the hour...Julianne Moore. I. Just. Love. Her. Like, between her and Cate it's a huge toss up, but I love Julianne, and her stylist ALWAYS kills it. Julianne alternates between Tom Ford gowns (who is litterally her BFF) and Chanel, but I love this Chanel dress because it is SO different from the Chanel dress she won in last year...which I also loved. But, this look is very different for her. She normally wears sleek and straight gowns, but this is more ballroom and she looks great it in. The overall styling is also great - the hair, the jewelry. Love, love, love. Is it time for her to win again?

Rachel McAdams in August Gerry Atelier.
Not gonna lie, I'm not to familiar with this designer but he just pulled an Elie Saab at the 2002 Oscars with Hallie Berry. Literally, no one one knew who Elie Saab was until Berry won the Oscar in THAT dress that night. And look at Saab Now. #ThanksHallie. So, that's right - August just became a household name. This dress is dangerous. Like it's SO hot, but it the most subtle way. I love it so much, and that emerald green just kicked SO much ass on the red carpet last night. Everything from the halter, to the slit, to the open back, it's just flawless. The dress is super minimal and so is her styling and it all comes together so well. Congrats on Best Picture Rach! This dress for sure put her in the #Spotlight. (Pun 100% intended).

Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell.
Gaga has really taken the old Hollywood, vintage glam thing so seriously this award season and it's really working for her. I have to save this is one of my favorite looks on the carpet due to creativity. THESE ARE PANTS. PANTS. Like, the only people who get away with wearing pants on the Oscar carpet are Diane Keaton and Julia Roberts. Literally. But, this is the most elegant jumpsuit-dress collab I've seen on the carpet in a while. And the 1950s silhouette is just exceptional. Gaga went BIG without going over the top and that's a huge red carpet achievement. I'm going to say bravo her to her too.

SIDE NOTE: And theeeen Gaga changed into THIS later.

Yup, bye.

Charlize Theron in Dior.
Haters gonna hate on "Mad Max," and I mean, I was so one of the haters, but when you see Charlize on a carpet you're just a hater no longer. I normally don't like red on the red carpet...that's just me. But, this...this is red hot. I love this so much. And the plunge neckline with the drop diamond necklace?? UGH. It's like sexy old Hollywood and it's just on point. The train of her dress is another thing I love so much, it's like the world's most perfect dress train. Just look at the way it's positioned behind her? I can't deal. Winner or not, this is how you play the game.

Emily Blunt in Prada.
Did anyone else KNOW she was pregnant again?!! Like, she literally JUST had a kid! And like her fellow pregnant lady, Chrissy T, Emily Blunt looks just fabulous in this pale, pink Prada. I love everything about this look: The color, the diamond embellishments, her accessories, and the old Hollywood styled hair. It's not to over the top, it's not to basic. It's just right. If Emily Blunt ends up playing Mary Poppins in the movie's talked about remake...I wouldn't hate it.

Daisy Ridley in Chanel.
The newly A-list "Star Wars" actress presently surprised us in this simply stunning, embellished Chanel dress. Not only was the pale blue color so on point, the tiny chiffon peplum and the ankle-length cut of the gown is so Hollywood glam, I love it so much. The force is definitely with her and when the force is Chanel, I mean, no one can really f*ck with you. Not even Darth.

Jennifer Garner in Versace.
So, I am gonna go ahead and say that this dress is by no means ugly, but it's like not my fav dress on the carpet BUT Jennifer as whole looks FLAWLESS. She was literally glowing on stage, glowing. And after the all shit she's been through with the new Batman (ew), she sure as hell showed him. So, to Jen I say, you go ahead with your bad self and you steal the show. This is for sure one hot mama...your loss Ben.

Priyanka Chopra in Zuhair Murad.
I mean, I almost didn't put her on here because I literally can't look at her. She's. Stunning. Like, it hurts my eyes. I actively don't watch "Quantico" because I just can't look at her. It's NOT fair. But, I mean any Zuhair Murad is stunning and it's even more stunning on her. So, there's really nothing else to say but that.

Make to sure to check out Le Miz tomorrow for the WORST dressed! LOL. Ya'll know you like that better anyways...

Best and Worst Dressed a la SAG Awards

The Winners WIN and the Losers, well they LOSE! Cheers to Le Best and Le Worst a la 2016 SAG Awards....

Well, the stars came out to root for each other on Saturday night at the 22nd annual SAG Awards. And because the show is one of the more lax award shows, it's normally not the best red carpet - basically, people tend to show up in the more lax of gowns, but this year, people turned it UP on the SAG carpet. We're talking, very few MIZ dresses, but of course, there are always some miz dresses.

But, before we get into the fashion...quick shout out to the SAG Awards for being likeee the MOST diverse award show yet honoring Queen Latifah, Viola Davis, Uzo Aduba, "Orange is the New Black," (which is arguably the most diverse show on television in more ways than one), and Idria Elba with not one, but TWO awards!! ACTORS GET IT. Yes, it was a good night for non-white Hollywood (Alicia, Brie, Leo, and Downtown Abbey aside).

But, Brie Larson and Leo D are 100% winning da Oscar because they are the ONLY and I mean only consistent winners of this award season. We now have THREE films that have won best picture (The Revenant, The Big Short, and Spotlight) and two Best Supporting Actresses (Kate Winslet and Alicia Vikander), and a debatable Best Supporting Actor, sooo it should be interesting to see who takes home the gold in a few weeks at the Oscars. I'm rooting for "Spotlight" obv.

                                         And yes, I'm totally biased.

ANYWAY back to le fashion! Here we go - your favorite posts of the year...Le Best and Worst! Starting with...

THE BEST

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab.
I mean, bow down. This dress is simply the most elegant thing I've seen on the carpet this season. But, I am surprised? No. Elie Saab is a red carpet gown genius. I would go through the history of all his show-stopping, award winning gowns (aka Halle Berry's circa 2002 when she WON in Elie Saab), but that post would be longer than life, so I'll just say - BRAVO Rachel, bravo.

SIDE NOTE: This dress is also ten times prettier like on camera because you can see the shimmer of the fabric and the ornate detailing of the bead/lace work. It's like unreal.

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton.
THIS is the dress I WANT in my closet the MOST. Oh. My. God. She looks aahh-maze balls and I never say that. AND, she won! This is sequins on fleek. Alicia is not only flawless, she's just like the most humble - her acceptance speech? Amazing. Yes, yes, yes, just yes.

Jessica Pare.
I meeeeean, SLAY. Talk about show-stopping. Like, she can do NO wrong. It's brilliant. Oh, the French always win.

Saorise Ronan in Michael Kors.
This is the definition of pretty in pink. Simply gorgeous. I'd move to Brooklyn with her for sure.

Emilia Clarke in Dior.
So much pink, so little time. This carpet was randomly FILLED with pink dresses, which is odd, but out of all the pretties in pink (besides Saorise), this is one of my favorites. It's so simple, but so elegant. It's literally the quintessential ball gown and I love it.

Rooney Mara in Valentino.
I think Rooney is SO flawless. She always looks just effortlessly gorgeous, so I love how her intricate hair (you gotta see the back) is really the bulk of this outfit, but she just looks so daringly chic in this black Valentino number. It's very "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" stunning.

Anna Faris in Naeem Khan.
Wow. Anna Faris looked surprisingly elegant, but like regal elegant. This dress is SOO classy and I'm not going to lie, the fact that she picked this dress shocked me a little bit, but she's working it. (The back is priceless also).

Tina Fey in Prabal Gurung.
Another great red dress on the red carpet was Tina's. I LOVE Tina, I mean, who doesn't? But, I am never super crazy about the dresses she wears on the carpet, but she nailed this. It fits her perfectly and it's just so classic. There's nothing funny about this look - Tina means business.

Laverne Cox Prabal Gurung.
Ooooooo child, Laverne KILLS the red carpet. Like Tina, Laverne also chose to wear a fun Prabal gown, but Laverne always slays. She just looks unreal. I love, love, love this dress, it's chiffon and slits done right.

Viola Davis in Zac Posen.
A nice little break of all the red and pink Valentine's day themed dresses, Viola killed it in this grey-toned purple Zac Posen. Not only did Viola win, she won best dressed as well. This was probably one of my favorite looks that she was worn and the whole outfit styling is perfect. I could honestly care less if she's guilty of murder if she looks like this on every carpet.

Julianne Moore in Givenchy.
So, when I first saw this dress, I was thinking this kinda looks like a Mardi Gras or a mermaid costume, LOL, but you how I feel about Julianne and I'm obsessed with her stylist and the fact that she always wears Givenchy, and I love the green color with her red hair, so I'm gonna say HEY, she rocks this. But, I will also say that I don't think ANYONE else could...like at all.

Helen Mirren in Jenny Packham.
I mean, Helen must have some kid of deal with GOD that's basically, she will NEVER and I mean NEVER age. She looks better than some of the people 20 years younger than her! It's unreal. I love her. Round of applause for the Brits.

Kiernan Shipka in Erdem.
Aww. Kiernan looks so perfect. I love her and I love this dress. Ugh, I miss Mad Men.  :(

Kristen Wiig Roland Mouret.
OH, Kristen, you go head with your bad self in this incredibly trendy, avant-garde looking jumpsuit. I ain't mad at chya.

THE WORST (aka THE MIZEST) Ugh.

Nicole Kidman in Gucci.
WOOF! This dress looks like 1970s disco Barbie threw up on it. Ugh, I hate it. And I LOVE sequins, everyone knows that, but this? This is bad. Like pink sequin ruffles? With that loooong flowy hair clashing? Girl, Bye.

Lori Petty in something...
Ugh, I mean I just can't with this pepto pink outfit, lol. It kinda looks like something a pop star, we'll say Britney Spears, would have worn to the Grammys in the early millennium. But, I'm also not even surprised by her outfit because it's her, so like its whatever.

Priyanka Chopra.
She may be one of the most beautiful women in the world, like seriously, she's stunning, but this dress...is not. Sorry Priya, love you, but hate your dress. A lot. Possibly with the passion.

Kate Mara in Valentino.
Unlike her sister, Kate's dress was a little, well...poopy. That's right, poopy. I really hated it. The awkward brown lace with like metal ties in the middle? I DON'T get it. Do you? But, if you have to ask, then it's bad.

Sola Bamis.
Ugh, so I LOVE Sola sooo much. Especially since I just met and interviewed her last week and she is SO great, but this dress is just not right. I love the color on her, and honestly the worst part of the dress isn't even the the massive bow, its the tailoring. One side of the dress is like lop sided and the whole dress is like too big for her in the stomach area, it's just all wrong. WAAH, sorry girl.

Amanda Peet in Narciso Rodriguez.
This dress is just awful. Like, what IS that neckline?!! She literally has NO chest! The dress also makes her looked like she's slummed over and the high-low hem line, like isn't a real high-low hemline, it's just all wrong. Like, if you're married to the "Game of Thrones" producer then like, look like it. I know I would.

Ellie Kempner in Peter Pilotto.
Umm, I love Peter Pilotta, but this dress looks like a kaleidoscope gone wrong. I think maybe if the whole dress was like the top, it wouldn't look so bad BUT, the bottom is a NO. Her hair and makeup looks nice though. So, good job there.

Well, now that that's done...next one up is the NAACP Awards!! Who's ready for an all black show?! Prob not the Academy. LOLz.

I'm sorry, the diversity jokes are never going to get old...sadly.
