EMMYS BEST DRESSSED!

BEST DRESSED A LA EMMYS

So, the Emmys happened last night and I gotta say...they were pretty great. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 68th prime time Emmy Awards show and the guy was pretty hilarious. The show wasn't too drawn out, like I was SUPER surprised that it ended promptly at 11pm, (you know unlike the Oscars), Jimmy really kept the show moving with hilarious skits, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and a lot of great cracks about Maggie Smith. Congrats to that "Downtown Abbey" dame by the way!

Ugh, really gonna miss Downtown. Meh. But besides the lovely Maggie Smith - who were the big winners of the night? Well, Emmys vet TV show, "Game of Thrones" broke the Emmys record last beating the classic, "Frasier" with the most Emmys award wins. The 90s sitcom has a total of 37 Emmys and GOT nows has 38! GASP. (To me this is kind of like when "Lord of the Rings" broke the Oscar record and won more awards than "Titanic"....no?)

So, anyway big congrats to GOT woot woot, BUT the show I reeeeallly care about? DA PEOPLE VS OJ SIMPSON!! WHOO! And not only was legit the WHOLE cast nominated for an Emmy, which is pretty crazy, the three best cast members won...duh.

BIG Congrats to my girl Sarah Paulson, Sterling K. Brown, and Courtney B. Vance, whose preacher style acceptation speech stole the show. LOL.

YAY for all the awesome Emmy winners! It was a great show, but now let's talk FASHION. EEK! Here are my TOP looks on last night's red carpet.

LE BEST OF THE BEST

Sarah Paulson in Prada.
Not only did Sarah Paulson give the performance of the year as Marcia Clark in the winner for Best Limited TV Series, "The People vs. OJ Simpson," she also stole the show in her simply STUNNING Prada gown. Everything from her blunt, blonde cut, to her diamond earrings that perfectly compliment the sparkles in the all over gown in just, well #Flawless. And since Beyonce didn't show last night...(not over it)...Sarah Paulson reigns supreme as Queen. Congrats Sarah!

Kristen Bell in Zuhair Murad.
Wow. This dress was just like wow. I have really no words expect for that this may be the best dress Kristen Bell has every worn ever. Like this is a career changing dress. This is probably one of my favorite red carpet looks I've seen in a long ass time. Not only was the dress just amazing, her styling was on point. Her hair cut with the simple diamond drop earrings is just so elegant. Like, Anna and Elsa are prob super jealous of this dress. I know I am. Def fit for a princess.

Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta.
UGH sadly this is the last time we'll see Michelle on stage for anything Downtown related, but the girl looked Kate Middleton regal in this ruffled Oscar down. The black and white is just so classy, like her duh, and I can't WAIT for her American accent in her new Fall show "Bad Behavior." I'll miss Mary Crawley, but thank god for Michelle.

Priyanka Chopra in Jason Wu.
UMMM. DID YOU SEE HER TWIRL?!! Wow. Not only did she just look super fierce in this red hot number, but when she and Tom Hiddleston walked out on stage last night, not only was she gliding on air, when she spun around it was like the world stopped for just a minute. Also, she and Tom Hiddleston should date like NOW. Talk about one attractive British couple. Sorry Taylor.

JK. We're not sorry.

BEST

Sarah Hyland in Monique L'huillier.
One of my favorite things on the red carpet is pants, but pants done right. This look is very Marie Antoinette meets modern day woman and I LOVE it. It's the most regal non-ballgown I've ever seen and Sarah completely rocked this look with her side swept up-do and minimalistic jewels. "Modern Family" may have lost to "VEEP," but Sarah slayed.

Constance Zimmer in Monique L'huillier.
Another Monique look, Constance looked pretty pink in this elegantly ornate gown. I think my favorite thing about this look is the blunt, edgy hair cut in contrast with the very feminine frills of the gown. I also died for the shade of her perfectly pink lipstick. Like the whole thing was just so on point. If she was a real Bach contestant, I'd give her my rose.

Maura Kelly  in Cristian Siriano.
I may be biases because "The Affair" is one of my favorite shows and Maura totally kills it in the show, even though she didn't win, I love her adorable, custom made Cristian Siriano gown. Her side-swept hair and the diamond studs was the perfect amount of elegance to make the outfit stand out. I think my favorite thing about this look is the tea-length skirt. Very retro, very "Mad Men." (Yeah, I'm still not over Mad Men's ending, it's fine).

Minnie Driver in Versace.
Another woman who rocked the tea-length dress, my girl Minnie. God I love this woman and this dress is just sexy gorgeous. There was a lot of yellow on the carpet last night, but Minnie did it the best. I don't even know how old Minnie is, but she literally looks UNREAL in this dress. The cool and causal hair with sleek and sexy cut outs is just perfection. I'm pretty sure I am 20 or 30 years younger than her and I don't think I would look as good in this dress. Like I wouldn't. She's amazing.

Claire Danes in Schiaparelli.
So, I LOVE this dress. Why? Well because it's a gold sequin dress. Duh. And Claire's hair always looks great, like so effortless its a joke. But the only thing that completely kinda ruined this look was Claire's ABSURDLY orange skin. I don't know HOW her stylist let her go out on the carpet looking as orange as she did, but LUCKILY, the tan actually photographed a lot better than it looked on TV. Because on TV, not gonna lie it was like umpa lumpa city. But again, the dress is gorgeous and she rarely does wrong in the fashion department so we're letting the crazy tan slide...kinda.

America Ferrera in Jenny Packham.
Okay, so I know what most people are thinking, this outfit is pretty basic. A navy, sequin dress. Whoop-de-do. BUT the styling for America's whole look is FLAWLESS. Unlike Claire, her tan is perfection and I love the nude lip and JLO glow she's got going on with the wavy hair, disco earrings and of course, the gown. I think this is the perfect example of how you can make a fairly simple, B-List dress look A-list on the carpet. Bravo!

Kerry Washington in Brandon Maxwell.
SLAY ALL DAY. Though a lot of us are kinda pissed at Lady Kerry right now because she's about to be a mama again and we're all mizzz because that means no more "Scandal" for awhile...ugh, so selfish. LOL. BUT the mommy-to-be looked sophisticated sharp in this Brandon Maxwell design, perfect her super baby bump. And let's not forget Kerry's natural hair do. Talk about #BlackGirlMagic.

Guiliana Ranic in Georges Chakra Couture.
Though I am super convinced that E! is STILL trying to hide Guiliana's arms from the site of the public so she can continue the slay the red carpet interviews for award season, but this "etherial" cape dress mixed with sparkles and tulle is just everything. Can I wear this to my wedding? Because I would.

Sophie Turner in Valentino.
If you aren't to blinded by the site of Sophie's rock, lol then you can see how cool this black, lace and tulle gown is. I normally don't like black on red carpets, Kerry aside, but when you can do something cool and intricate with black, you can really rock it. I love Sophie's bleach blonde hair with the black lace its very dark and edgy meets sweet and sophisticated. Loooove it.

Olivia Culpo in Zac Posen.
So, I'm gonna be honest, I don't really know why she was at the Emmys LOL but, this dress is well, beautiful. Like a literal work of art. She looks like an ice princess who just stepped out of the snow or something and I just love it. I would also wear this dress to my wedding, no shame.

Abigail Spencer in Jenny Packham.
A lot of Jenny Peckham and a lot of Zac Posen on the red carpet last night, but this is one of my favorite looks for several reason that are probably obvious - the sequins, the tulle, and the ruffles. This dress basically has all the makings of what I call a perfecr dress. Expect my perfect dress would be like gold or silver. Not navy.

Tracey Ellen Ross in Ralph Lauren.
Winter white looks hot this is "Blackish" star. The cut out, chiffon number was a winner on the carpet and my favorite thing about the look is her slicked back hair with the fun, disco earrings.  "Blackish" may not have won this year, but Tracy is such a fashion maven on the carpet and a winner in my eyes. She's just taking after her moma in all the right ways.
