Best Dressed a la MET Gala

On Monday night, models and celebrities alike celebrated the 1st of May in Met Gala fashion! The creme de la creme of the fashion and entertainment world gathered on the grand stairs of the Met Museum for the annual fashion gala or the fashion Oscars, in other words. This year's theme was honoring the innovation of avant garde designer Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons, who is known for his over the top, deconstructed-wearable-but-not-so-wearable-designs. Some celebrities took fashion risks to fully embrace the evening's theme and some decided to big or go home by daring to wear a CDG design. And even though, CDG is known for being kinda cooky, some people embraced the theme a lot better than others and we're taking a look at all the Met Gala celebs who got it right!

Here's our list of the 2017 Met Gala BEST DRESSED!

Zendaya in Dolce & Gabbana.

YASSS Z!!! This was one of my FAVORITE looks of the night, not to mention probably one of the BEST Met Gala looks in a long ass time. The budding fashion diva gave us serious LYFE in this stunningly vibrant D&G number. And can we talk about her hair for a second???! HERE. FOR. IT. Z's afro-fabulous hair and bold orange lips means: no accessories necessary. BOOM.  Zendaya is basically giving me Rihanna circa 2015 in this outfit and I think she's just the hands down winner. GOOD NIGHT.

Rihanna in Comme des Garcons.

But then of course you have the fashion maven herself, Rihanna. Now, Ri Ri hasn't been on the Met carpet since she literally WOWed the world with her grand yellow ensemble back in 2015. So, naturally, Ri was gonna show UP on the carpet in full on style, making up for that missed time. And being the edgy ass diva that Ri Ri is, the singer was one of the FEW celebs who dared to wear CDG on the carpet. Others tried to embrace the theme and Rihanna just straight up WORE IT. CHECK PLEASE?!!

Beauty note: Ri's illuminated pink cheeks and eyes are literally EVERYTHING.

Zoe Kravitz in Oscar de la Renta.

Let's talk about Big Little Lies for a second. Zoe is a LITTLE girl, with a BIG sense of fashion, and when the girl walks a red carpet - she ain't serving no LIES. OKAY?? Can I get an 'Amen sister friend" for my lady in pink?! The young actress/singer was serving us Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, with a little more Kravitz edge and there's absolutely nothing wrong with this look.

Beauty note: Her quaffed blonde hair with her pale pink makeup is just flawless.

(I promise this is not a solely #BlackGirlMagic post...)

Katy Perry in Masion Margiela by John Galliano.

SO, I don't care what people have to say about this look. Whether you happen to think it's crazy or ugly, we're just ignoring you because not only was Katy the co-chair for the evening's Gala, she NAILED the CDG theme perfectly in this bold, custom Galliano red gown. The outfit, which the singer described as wearable art, has so much detail and so many little pieces that if you don't appreciate it's intricate craftsmanship, then you're missing something. We're in LOVE with ALL the RED. The red veil is the most fierce thing ever and behind the veil is Katy's unreal makeup with accents for blue and red shimmer. RED is the new black people. Get used to it.

Kate Bosworth in Tory Burch.

At first glance, you would not think of this look as a Tory Burch creation. Like, at all. Because when you think of Tory you think of like preppy, pink and blue tennis skirts, and like golden T's everywhere LOL. But stop right there! Tory surprised us all and dressed Bosworth in this totally chic fanned out, black gown. Now, Kate looks good in just about anything, but  her dark red lip and slicked back hair is super vampy, different and so fierce. The diamond necklace, which hangs down her back also adds some softness to the dark ensemble, but all of it together is perfection.

Blake Lively in Versace.

Welp, we already know that the couple goals for the evening went to Blake and hubby Ryan Reynolds,  but let's give Blake some  solo time in the spotlight and just take in this intricate gold and blue embellished gown. There are like SO many things to say that I can't even form words about what to say. So, just, Bravo Blake. Bravo.

Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera.

Yaaaas Emmy! I mean, the girl just walked into the room, or the tent should we say, nailed her pose, swung her side train around and was like BOOM BITCHES - I'M HERE. And we were like YAS EMMY we're HERE FOR YOU TOO. Need I say more? Nah.

P.S. She's wearing pants...NAILED IT.

Allison Williams in DVF.

Okay, at first glance, you see this dress and you're like oookay, so she's wearing a white dress with a black corset. Big whoop? WELL IT IS indeed a big whoop because if you look closer at the details, you will then seen that the entirety of the white part of the gown is SEQUINED, and the back of the gown has some complex draping that is just so elegant. I LOVE this look. Everything from the Allison's new bold, blonde hair, to the red lip and the dazzling, long earrings. Allison may NOT be the white girl you wanna go home with for the weekend (LOL Get Out reference - and if you haven't seen Get Out yet WHO IS YOU?!), but I'd take her home if she was wearing this...

Laura Osnes in Cristian Siriano.

This little Broadway beauty made her Met Gala debut last night and she NAILED in this awesomely fabulous custom Cristian Siriano gown. If we're ranking all the BIG dresses from the night, I give her and Zendaya 1 and 2 because these ballroom numbers are so grand, so fierce, and so elegant. They command the room, or in this case, the staircase, and it's just so freaking baller.

Rose Byrne in Ralph Lauren.

Red is the new black ladies and gentlemen. If you didn't believe me the first time, I think you'll believe me now. This BEST thing about Rose's look is that this gown is probably one of the most unconventional Ralph Lauren looks, like, ever. It's SO not RL to the point where you're like - are you SURE that's RL? But it is, and its spectacular. It fits her like a dream and while it's a big gown, the tulle fabric is actually quite simple. Flawlessly done Rose.

Beauty note: Her vintage inspired hair and the bold red lip just tops of her look exquisitely.

Kendall Jenner in La Perla.

Well, leave it to Kendall J to simply wear some lingerie on the Met gala red carpet lol. JK. The model, who is currently the face of La Perla decided to rock the lingerie designer on the carpet and I think she it really well. Now grant it she's def just wearing a lace, thong bustier, covered up with a bedazzle dress type thing, but I mean, that's basically what it is and it's freaking cool. And hey, as long as she didn't accessorize her look with a Pepsi, that's all that matters right? LOLz.

Gigi Hadid in Tommy Hilfiger.

I think it's safe to say that Tommy Hilfiger surprised us with this totally NOT Tommy look on Gigi last night. I LOVE this ensemble. Gigi's hair isn't my favorite thing in the world, BUT the styling of the gown with the netted thigh highs and sheer shoes is just PERFECTION. I love this look also because it embraces the CDG theme in combining the wearable with the avant-garde very well. This might be my favorite non big dress look on the carpet.

Riley Keough in Louis Vuitton.

The granddaughter of Elvis is hot as f*ck. If you haven't watched The Girlfriend Experience, you should because she's just....I mean, I legit have no words. Bottom line though is - I love her and I love this look. She is serving us the Madonna look that Madonna didn't. (I mean let's be real Madonna's look was A MESS). But yes, love the juxtaposition between the Riley's tossed back hair and fresh face with the harshness of the red and black (remember ladies, red IS the new black), and the chains. LOOOVE IT. Elvis would be proud.

Emily Ratajkowski in Marc Jacobs.

We all know that Emily is just gorgeous, and she could have literally worn nothing last night and looked amazing, but I LOVE this dress because it reminds of this beautifully embellished, wearable version of Van Gough's 'Starry Night.'

Beauty note: Emily kept her makeup simple dabbling with the peach hues, but made the make up cohesive with a bold blue liner. Flawless.

Sophia Richie in Topshop.

I'm literally HERE for ANY thing ANY Richie does. From Nicole, to Lionel to Sophia, I got ya'll. Nicole's younger sister looked white hot in this custom, metallic number. It's sexy, yet elegant and I'm kinda down with the fact that her dress mimics her hair a little bit. The diamonds, the dripping chest chain, I'm into ALL of it.

So, these are all the ladies who SLAYED the Met carpet in our opinion, BUT the question is, if the original creator of SLAY (aka Beyonce), didn't attend this year's ceremony then likeeee did the Met Gala EVEN HAPPEN?!!

LOL!!

But seriously...did it?
