Oscars BEST Dressed

Best Dressed a la 2017 Oscars!!

On Sunday the 89th annual Academy Awards took place in Hollywood. The star-studded evening was packed with the best of the best of Hollywood and the best of the best of fashion. But before we delve into the evening's hottest looks - quick shoutout to the some of the big winners from the night including Viola Davis for Best Supporting Actress (FENCES), Mahershala Ali for Best Supporting Actor (MOONLIGHT), and director Barry Jenkins and the cast of "Moonlight" for stealing show - literally - for their unexpected win for Best Picture. Sorry 'La La Land.' LOVE Ya! I do. Seriously, it's the sound track of my life, but Emma and Damien won for them, so I think they're set.

ALSO even BIGGER congrats to Davis for being ONE step closer to becoming an EGOT (she just needs a Grammy now...but we'll work on that) and to Mahershala Ali for becoming to first Muslim to win an Oscar. Take THAT Trump! LOL...sorry, had to.

So Oscar winners aside, here are the BEST DRESSED from last night's epic ceremony!

best of the best

Viola Davis in Armani

ALL HAIL THE 2017 QUEEN OF AWARD SEASON!!!! Congrats to the lovely Davis on her over whelming success this year. And even better? The TV and film star slayed the award show red carpets with all her looks, but this red hot Armani number proved that the star was dressed to win. She looked so fierce, so ready, so deserving. I am SO proud to call you my mother in my head hahaha. Conrgats on the gold!! Three cheers for VIOLA!!

Emma Stone in Givenchy

It's not secret that Emma Stone was dressed to WIN. The "La La Land" actress looked like her new Oscar in this golden Givenchy gown. And while I love everything from the beading to the sparkling fringe, the dress is in fact a sleeveless, golden recreation of Cate Blancett's 2015 Golden Globes dress. (Cate always wears Givenchy, just saying). But did Emma look fabulous in the gold hue? Yes. And her red hair paired with that burnt orangey-red lip and the golden brown smokey eye is really what tied the whole look together. Emma glittered like the award she won. Well done.

Olivia Culpo in Marchesa

Close your eyes and think of water. That's right water. Culpo was lucky enough to be chosen as the Marchesa muse (my life long dream), for this year's Oscars and then model worked her custom, embellished and fringe gown made to interpret water. Other great parts of Culpo's look is the tiny accents from the purple eye lids and slicked back pony tail to the tiny black ribbon belt on the dress. Simply perfection. OH and the best part?! Her dress was for a good cause! Think about water again and think about how her dress was actually made out of pieces of Stella Artois chalice for the Stella "Buy A Lady A Drink" Water Project collaboration. This fringe thang really worked for her and Emma last night huh?

Naomi Harris in Calvin Klein

UMMM I want to hate her because every day I wake up and I wonder why I'm still NOT her, but I love her. AND I love this dress. Sure Oscars means best of the best and over the topness, but the reason why this dress is so great because it's really not over the top. It's SO simple that it takes the cake. Everything about the dress shape, the retro white sequins, the mullet back is SO unique and so perfect. OH and her shoes were EVERYTHING. Pop of yellow with the diamonds. AHHHmazing. Then Naomi's simple makeup and sleek, straight hair just puts the whole look together. Well done! Brilliant! (British accent).

Amy Adams in Tom Ford

When you're in a Tom Ford movie, ya wear Tom Ford. That's just how it goes. So were any of us surprised to see the Oscar vet show up to this year's ceremony in an awesome, plunge-neck, metallic Ford sheath? Nah. And did she kill it? Yaaasssss. Adams didn't do the red carpet so most of us were stunned when we saw her for the first time on stage, but when the lights hit her gown it was like the heavens opened up. Spectacular dress Amy. You may not have won but you're a red carpet winner in our eyes.

Isabelle Hupbert in Armani Prive

Pretty much anyone wearing Armani Prive on the the carpet is going to look amazing because they make custom gowns to WOW. So, when the lovely French actress, (who probably should have won the Oscar over Emma Stone just saying...), waltzed onto the red carpet she literally looked like a glittery cloud. Everything about this is just tres magnifique. As they say in France.

Da Best

Ruth Negga in Valentino

Ruthie has been killing it on the red carpet this award season. She is one of the new fashion figure in Hollywood to keep track of and she never ceases to amaze. At first glance I didn't love this look, but the more I saw it, the more I fell in love with it. Not many people can pull off red on the carpet as well as the extremely high collar. But this Valentino gown is just so romantic and elegant and on her she just looked like a princess. Like I could see Kate Middleton in this TOMORROW. LOL. I loved the crown-shaped ruby headband as well with all the ruby makeup. I feel in love with Ruth last night and I'm going to refrain from making a "Loving" pun right now. LOL.

But her after party look was even better....

Tarhji P. Henson in Albertta Faretti

So, at first I saw this dress and I was likeee ehhh that's boring. Nothing wrong with it, but it's boring. BUT then they did the up-down pan of the full gown and I saw it - the SLIT. Oh yeah. Girl was working her Angelia Jolie side slit and she looked AWESOME. Finally the whole look came together. The short hair, the diamond necklace, the offer-the-shoulder sleeves, the boobs pushed up...yeah we can't leave that out. Girl looked so fierce. Can't handle it. WERK girl!

Emma Roberts in Armani Prive

Were you expecting to see Roberts on the Oscars red carpet last night? Nope. Julia maybe, but like not her niece. Lol. But she showed up and she showed up with a new redhead do AND a beautiful vintage Armani Prive gown. This dress literally looked like it was painted on her it fit SO well. This was vintage Hollywood glam at it's finest. Surprise? Yes. But we'll take it.

Leslie Mann in Zac Posen

I think that this was one of the most FUN dresses on the Oscar's red carpet. Not only did the chartreuse color look amazing on Leslie, but her styling was perfection. The lose waves with the orangey red lip and drop diamonds just topped this look off. The Oscar presenter looked red carpet perfect and hey she wasn't even nominated. That's how you do it people.

Janelle Monáe in Elie Saab

WOAH. This dress - woah. So, Monáe is known for normally wearing Chanel on the carpet, but the "Hidden Figures" star truly looked like a princess in this beautifully adorned Elie Saab gown. Similar to the structure of Jessica Biel's Golden Globes dress, this dress is what you call a red carpet show stopper. And I don't think anyone other that Monáe could have pulled this look off...especially with all the accessories as well. Bravo!

Halle Berry in Versace

Despite her kinda crazy - no I take that back. SUPER crazy wig - Halle Berry looked SO fierce is this beautiful chiffon and sequined Versace gown. The women DOES NOT AGE. It's actually a joke. Well done Halle...just maybe next time...different wig?? Cause you kinda have to block the wig out to really SEE the dress haha. And I've got no problem with the au natural hair butt her hair was even bigger than her face! AH!

Giuliana Rancic in Georges Shakra

Welp despite how, skinny the TV host looked - again another subject for another day, she did look beautiful in this unique pastel blue gown. The way it looked on the carpet was just eye-popping and the bold color was everything. There's a a lot going on with the dress, but it doesn't look like too much. Now, are we ready to see Giuliana arms again? Ehhhh it's still too soon. But we can handle it this time...maybe.
